Coimadai Primary School is a rural school nestled in a valley overlooking Lake Merrimu, just 10 kilometres North of Bacchus Marsh. The school was founded in 1863 when a group of locals built a wooden structure to serve as both a school and teacher residence.

A brick school was erected in 1872 and, with a few additions, is still used as a classroom today. In addition there are two new double portables used as classrooms, a single portable used as an art room and a "Shedatorium" used for indoor physical education, drama, assemblies and social functions.

In all classes the emphasis on the individual to achieve and progress through meaningful and purposeful activities. Our small class sizes ensure excellent grounding in English and Mathematics. Specialist programs are offered in art, music, science, Auslan, and physical education. There is a literacy intervention program available for students who may require further support. All teachers support and encourage all students at Coimadai. Long term planning of curriculum and the use of an integrated curriculum help to make learning purposeful. Student progress is regularly reported to parents through interviews and written reports.
